Bright future for Lapland Car Test

-We have a positive trend again! Good news from Mats-Ola Sahlström MD at Lapland Car Test in Arvidsajur.

Lapland Car Test is a subsidiary company to Daimler AG. They have activities at two facilities; one in Arjeplog and one in Arvidsjaur.

The facility in Arvidsjaur was built a couple of years ago, near the airport:
-It is a perfect location for our clientele and it is hard to find a colder area than here, close to Fjällbonäs. It is like a thoroughfare of cold by the Arvidsjaur lake, often 8-10 degrees colder than Arvidsjaur town. It is just what we want.

Sionce 1993, the increase in Lapland Car Test's business has been steady. In 2008 the facility in Arvidsjaur was built and the year after that the world economy crashed which affected the car test industry:
-But since this fall it is business as usual. We have had to rent extra facilities to cope with the demand and the new test projects, says Mats-Ola

What kind of test projects?
-I can't tell you any details. Some of them concern alternative fuels.

The test period is normally December-March/April (easter). This means long hours of hard work for the test companies in the region.

What do you do during the rest of the year?
-Planning, building, administration and so on. There are always new things to test and applications, trials or new technology might be necessary to carry out the testing. We will do everything we can to facilitate the testing for our clients.

As the name suggests Lapland Car Test is mainly testing cars, and with that comes components...
-There might be one team testing the car, another testing the tyres and a third examining how brakes, filters and other things work in the snow and cold.

how do you view the future of your company? Are there any threats like the climate changes or the eastern markets?
